Adopt Cathie Giddy
Just for a pleasant change, Cathie Giddy was not admitted to the Koala Hospital because she was ill. She was simply a passenger on her mother, Cathie Avena’s back, when she was admitted with severe conjunctivitis in her left eye. Concerned residents had noticed the plight of both mother and daughter when they saw them being dive-bombed by birds and they called us out to investigate. Avena’s eye was so badly infected and encrusted that it required surgery. Because it was far less stressful for joey and mother, little Giddy had to be hospitalised along with Avena until she recovered. Giddy herself weighed in at just on 2.095 kgs and she was probably around 11-12 months old. She was in beautiful condition and her mother was obviously still feeding her and despite her eye condition, apparently taking good care of her. Once her mother recovered from eye surgery, they were both released back into their home territory.
